SUMMER FISHING
Drifting along the
sandy and shell bottom edges on both the eastern and western shores will produce
"keeper" size Flounder. A small wide gap bait hook tipped with a live
minnow or a strip of cut bait is the best way to fool a Flounder. The
fish will move with the tide along the edge in 10 to 50 feet of water. A gentle
hook set and tight line will bring flatfish to the net. Bluefish, Sea
trout. and Croaker will take this same bait so be prepared for a
variety of action.
The hot days of summer bring on the best bottom fishing for Norfolk Spot and Croaker. Children of all ages enjoy this easy way of filling the cooler with tasty fish.
