April 15 the Trophy Rockfish Season opens - the limit is 1 fish per person over 28 inches (12-60 lbs.).  This is the time to catch the biggest Rockfish of the year. These giants have been in the upper bay on spawning run and are migrating slowly down the bay feeding on small alewife (small bait fish) as they travel.

Trolling with large Capt Hank lures trimmed with large sassy shads is the most productive way to catch these hard fighting stripers. Sometimes a single lure is used or 2 lures with sassy shads in a parachute.

The key to catching is slow trolling and lure presentation.
