The Carrie Sue has been “Prepped for spring”: cleaned bow to stern/top to bottom, checked over twice and fuel topped off – ready to help you catch a trophy Rockfish. Shaming two-speed reels have been lubricated; rods shined, new lures tied on and ready to catch the big one. Bring the camera!
As usual trolling will be with single and tandem baits (parachutes) at a slow speed. Umbrella rigs will not be used during the Trophy season. This will give a better fight for the fish and less drag. Later in the Season umbrellas or baskets, as the mate names them, are the best for catching.
Mates Neal and Eric are “chomping-at-the-bit” to fish with you again on the Carrie Sue. Both mates will be sure to see that you enjoy fishing and have a great day on the beautiful Chesapeake Bay.
Rock fish Creel Limits are set by MD DNR and the Atlantic Coast Sport Fishery Commission have set the 2013 Season at one Trophy Fish over 28 inches per person. May 16 the quota changes, to two fish over 18 inches, but only one of the two (2) fish over 28 inches. June 1, we are allowed to keep one Rockfish for the “Boat”.
Flounder limits are been set at two (2) fish over 17 inches for everyone on the Carrie Sue. Capt. and mate included – “Thanks DNR”. We are anticipating a good run of spot, croaker and white perch.
Carrie Sue remains at the Charter Boat Dock in Calvert Marina.
